Our founder, Ian Hinde, has been a builder for 30 years. He has extensive experience in renovation, refurbishment, retrofitting traditional buildings, mainly in London and SE England.

For the last 10 years he has specialised in external wall insulation, using sustainable, breathable materials.  After moving to Scotland in 2019, he realised the particular problems associated with reducing energy demands in traditional stone (and other solid wall) buildings.

Recently he has completed a one and half storey cottage/farmhouse in Aberdeenshire in association with Matthew Clubb – architect and Passiv Haus designer.

Planet Cool is focusing on aerogel as the class leading insulating material for minimising floor space loss and ensuring the building health.

We are now developing a hemp-based aerogel which can be combined with a natural hemp fibre to incorporate into an offsite manufactured module.

Our aim is to establish a production facility in Aberdeenshire, utilising local materials and labour to achieve 100% made in Scotland with 0% carbon footprint insulation systems. We already have the potential for this in our facility near Aberdeen and presently have a large stock of aerogel which we are repurposing from subsea applications to produce insulation solutions.

Our Team.

Out There

Written by our founder and CEO, Ian, in 2008, Out There is Planet Cool's theme tune!

Out there

An illusion of concern masks a hard core of distain

Undertakings once held sacred never see the light again

Pipelines of provision cut to make another point

People cold and hungry another swindler to anoint

Out there – could be somebody watching

Viewing with compassion or contempt

Out there – could be somebody waiting

Trying to make out some kind of sense

Parchment skinned starvation with obesity in tow

Distant drums sound new salvation, new hope start to flow

Another angle’s fashioned to further decorate the tomb

Future generations patterns spread disjoined on the loom

Out there…

The chemistry of excess brings the water to our doors

Red wine from the artic, few grains in others’ stores

Maybe someone special

With a foot in either camp

can bless the oil and light the wick and lead on with the lamp

Out there…

Out there….

Forward to peace no looking back …. X 4

Forward to peace no looking …. X 4

Out there….

An illusion …..

Out there…. X 2
